"It is unwise to pay too much, but it is unwise to pay too little.
When you pay too much, you lose a little money; that is all.
When you pay too little you sometimes lose everything.
Because the thing you bought was incapable of doing the thing you bought it to do.
The commonlaw of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot.
It cannot be done.
If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run and if you do that, you will have enough to pay for something better."
- John Ruskin
Following is our formula for buses carrying musicians and crew. These are the median rates, we substantially reduce them in the quietest periods but marginally increase in the peak periods based on the average requirements for given dates over the previous 5 years. We want to create relationships and it is unfair to people who have supported us during the quiet periods not to provide coaches during the busy periods so those people will get priority treatment during peak periods where we are able. By definition, please just treat the ready reckoner as a rough guide.
Our pricing is inclusive. That means you get the coach, diesel fuel, driver, reasonable washing, weekly bedding laundry. There are no extra driver's per diems or trailer allowances to pay . Hotels are not usually required for European drivers as they usually sleep in the coaches. Any quotation we send you will also include tolls, bridges, tunnels, ferries, road taxes, Belgian VAT, etc. Also included in any written quotation will be double drivers or drivers required to take over during statutory rest days (relief drivers) or getting drivers to and from the coach.
The standard base rates for a Premium quality double deck coach in 2009 will be £525 a day, and single deck coaches at £475 a day. For economy conscious customers we offer a nice Economy 14 bed double decker at £50 a day less than the Premium deckers. These rates go down substantially in quiet dates (down by as much as £210 a day) but will go up in the busiest dates. We calculate the discounts or enhancements on a day by day basis based on 5 year historic statistics of demand.
You get an average of 75 miles a day included then there is an excess mileage charge for all extra miles. That charge varies according to the cost of diesel but as a rough guide assume £1.89 a mile for double deckers (March 2011). These rates adjust both up and down according to our average fuel cost. The ready reckoner is not adjusted very frequently so will by definition be innacurate.
Because of our charging policy, we are very competitive amongst the quality coach providers around the UK, especially off-season. Because of the cost of preparation, laundry, cleaning, etc., very short hires may seem relatively more expensive per day than longer hires.
Trailers at £120 a day plus any associated road tolls, ferry costs, driver allowances etc. If you do not have a huge amount of backline you may wish to consider a Megaloader which is a 14 or 16 bed coach with a walk in loading bay at around 85% capacity of a trailer. Remember that there are no further trailer towing allowances to be paid to the driver.
We can quote you in, and you can pay us, either Pounds or Euros.
Double drivers: We charge you £205 a day per double driver or relief driver (that rate includes the driver's overnight allowance or per diem - £30 more if towing a trailer). There is a flat charge for getting a driver to or from a coach. These are typically £100 if in the UK no further north than Glasgow, otherwise £300 although these rates will be modified where commonsense applies.
